After much thinking and typing I am pleased to announce that my fifth Danny Lancaster crime thriller – GARGOYLE PIXIE DOG – publishes on July 24. It’s different.

The story of the title is a short thriller about a young girl pavement artist who is sleeping rough and goes missing.

The book also includes six short stories from the crime files of Danny Lancaster that delve into infidelity, revenge porn, jealousy, suspicious death, greed on the catwalk and organised crime. There’s also a hero dog.D - PROMO FRONT-S

GARGOYLE PIXIE DOG makes the perfect bite-size poolside holiday read with something for everyone. And my other four Dannys are still only 99p on Amazon. Just click these links:

I’M amazed at the number of friends and strangers who have freely share their expertise for my researches.

It’s important to get the facts straight within the demands of a fictional story and I couldn’t do it without their help.

Areas of expert knowledge have included fashion shows, rough sleeping, illegal highs, murder scene procedures, container ships and maritime traffic, RNLI rescue, bush flying and people trafficking. The list goes on.

I try to thank everyone in the books but that’s small compensation for their help and enthusiasm.

Writing is a lonely business but it really is a team effort.

WHILE I was in the beautiful island of Crete I managed to dent my teetering TBR list and read some fantastic books including:

COLD GRANITE by Stuart MacBride, a beautifully-crafted blend of gruesome crime and humour.

NIGHT AT THE CROSSROADS by Georges Simenon proves classic pipe-puffing French cop Maigret is still a gripping crime read.

DON’T POINT THAT THING AT ME by the late Kyril Bonfiglioli is his first tale about art dealer Charlie Mortdecai. It’s a weird and wonderful mix of Raffles and Monty Python surrealism.
