You hope your daughter will end up with a brain surgeon or an airline pilot so it’s a surprise to find a multiple killer in the family.

Lorry driver by day, by night he is a ruthless assassin skilled in weapons and explosives.

And he is not alone. Last time I watched him play he was part of a team, fighting with people he had never met selected from the 174,000 gamers playing online worldwide on Call Of Duty.

And I thought my crime thrillers were scary.

If he decides to marry my daughter I don’t think there’ll be any arguments.

I like the trend for serving beer in glasses branded for the brew in the Belgian and Dutch manner.

An attractive badge on the glass adds something to the beverage. It looks good, avoids confusion and can act as a reminder if you’ve stayed for one too many.

But you can get a bit carried away. Belgium’s Brouwerij Bosteels brews Pauwel Kwak amber ale served in a round-bottomed flask held in a wooden stand.

At 8.4% ABV it’s not a session beer. But it is very tasty and not one you’re likely to forget.

The Flemish are so proud of their ale they are celebrating the stories of 365 brews on a new website www.ayearinbeer.com. Bottoms up!

Had another brilliant 5* review this week for ROCK HARD. This sort of response really is the marzipan and the icing on top of all that lonely typing:

“I have read all 4 of the Danny investigations now and loved every minute. Bill Todd never fails to keep me excited and gripped with his fantastic descriptions and details.
“Living in Brighton, I always enjoy being captivated by the scenes set. On his latest adventure, Danny finds himself in Gibraltar, helping out an old friend in deep trouble, and the scenes are again beautifully descriptive. This series of books has something for everyone, action packed, page turning drama, sex, violence and shock twists and turns. I fall for Danny’s character more and more with every instalment.”
