I am juggling so many projects I feel like a one-man band – drum kit on my back, cymbals between my knees and a harmonica hovering in front of my mouth on a bent coat hanger.

I’m working on two short history projects, a standalone thriller and the untitled Danny5. Pinning down the plot for D5 is like snatching at smoke. Even when you have a grip on a decent idea it still needs work. Kneading it into shape is like wrestling a frisky seal coated in goose fat. It’s a test of will fuelled by a cocktail of fear lubricated with sudden spurts of inspiration. It’s the best exercise I get.

D4 FrontVERY pleased to received another 5* review for ROCK HARD, my fourth Danny Lancaster crime thriller.

Sally wrote: “Enjoyed them all. Hope we can have more. Love reading books that are written around Brighton as l live there.”

Responses like these really do help you through those long lonely days at the keyboard.

ME heartiest congratulations to James @mightyjock Law on getting a three-book deal with Headline for his Royal Navy cop novels featuring Lieutenant Danielle “Dan” Lewis, a female investigator in the Special Investigation Branch. The first book, Tenacity, is due out in late 2015. Anchors aweigh!

AberystwithHAVE finally caught up with The Day Aberystwyth Stood Still, the sixth Malcolm Pryce novel featuring Louie Knight, the lone private eye in a Pythonesque Welsh seaside resort. The bizarre plot, weird wit and delightful turn of phrase make this book an absolute delight. I just have serious trouble quieting the Welsh accents in my head when I’m finished.
