You can have the cream of crime in your living room this weekend. Dozens of crime book festivals attract hundreds of authors and thousands of fans annually. This year they are victims of Covid-19.

But the Facebook group UK Crime Book Club is on the case. This site, which has more than 10,000 members, is holding a free festival, #UKCBCfest20 – UK Crime Book Club Festival Online.

Held this Friday, Saturday and Sunday (May 1-3), the event features more than 30 crimewriters including big names from the world of murder and mayhem.

Friday’s sessions include authors Elly Griffiths, Howard Linskey, Luca Veste, Mel Comley and CL Taylor.

Saturday features Mark Billingham, Denzil Meyrick and Graham Bartlett.

And Sunday brings William Shaw, Matt Hilton and Vaseem Khan. Four sessions each day include Northern Noir, female crime fiction, Tartan Noir, Irish crime, ask the experts, unusual protagonists and historical fiction.

There’s a taster on Thursday afternoon at 4pm with a fringe event on thrillers featuring Michael Kerr, Gordon Bickerstaff… and me.

UKCBC is a lively and friendly discussion group for crime book fans. The #UKCBCfest20 is free and you can find UK Crime Book Club on Facebook a https://www.facebook.com/groups/1116799071717588/

The game’s afoot!
